Dreams: verb; indulge in daydreams or fantasies, typically about something greatly desired.

Miracles: a surprising, desired and welcome event that is not explicable by natural or scientific laws and is therefore considered to be the work of a divine agency

Wishes: feel or express a strong desire or hope for something that is not easily attainable; want something that cannot or probably will not happen
(Merriam-Webster dictionary definitions)

Two days after graduation and I can’t help but take a moment to look back over my life.

I’ve been through so much in the short amount of time that I have been on this earth … But God has a plan for me and an even greater purpose than I may understand at this moment.

I’m in a season where God is beginning to manifest all of my dreams and wishes – performing miracles in my life and for those surrounding me. It is truly amazing to see how one person, how one universal entity can orchestrate, inspire and produce amazing things not only in my life, but in the life of others.

Often times when you think about dreams and wishes coming true, you think about the Disney movies where out of nowhere a fairy godmother comes along and waves her wand and poof! You’re a princess. Or you find yourself standing before a genie who is ready to grant you three wishes – turning you from a street rat to a highly desired sultan. ( yes Cinderella and Aladdin are my favorite Disney movies)

IMG_0530But in real life, it doesn’t really happen like that. If you pay attention to your life and begin connecting with God – building an intimate relationship with him and allowing Him to do things on your behalf – you will plainly see that those dreams, wishes and miracles are manifesting because of all the hard work, faithful steps and sacrifices you have made along the way.

Many may think the reason I can write this today or even have the platform I do is because I got lucky. Quite the contrary.

The reason I am here today and the reason you are here today is because the grace of God has been covering you. Moving you to and fro, allowing you to experience hardships, setbacks and disappointments to test you and refine your character. Furthermore, it’s because of the hard work I have been putting in for the last 25 years. Hard work truly does make the dream work.

Your dreams show you just a glimpse of what is to come. Your wishes are desires of what you would like to come true and miracles are divine manifestations – yet all are handled by God. When you align yourself with God, you’ll begin to realize that those minor setbacks were preparing you for even greater come backs.

Nothing will be a surprise to you when you see your dreams beginning to blend in with your reality because all you will feel at that moment is humility and thankfulness. Humility because you are humbled by the fact that God sees something in you and wants so much to provide for you. Thankful because without Him, who knows where you would be.

We’ve all made mistakes, we’ve all been in situations we should have never been in, we have all cried at night wishing on a star just for a breakthrough, we have all woke up from a dream and knew that it was heaven sent.

Nothing happens by accident, instead everything happens on His time. The universe knows when you are ready to move forward or if you need more time to grow. Don’t waste your growing season on complaining about the lack thereof – instead embrace each test the Universe throws your way and begin saying Thank You in advance.

The truth behind dreams, wishes and miracles is that they all work together for the good of those who love the Lord, because He is the only ONE who can truly make them become a reality. But in the meantime, it is up to us to begin sharing our testimonies with others, praising Him in advance and allowing each season to bring to us what we need to advance on to the next.

Dreams coming true takes hard work and sacrifice. Wishes reflect your inner desire and faith. And miracles are moments that will leave you utterly speechless and open to receiving more from God.

So, instead of complaining about your childhood dream not coming true or running out of stars to make wishes on – just say thank you, keep the faith and begin working harder. Showing God that while He is preparing your breakthrough and miracles begin to take shape, you trust that when it is time – you will be ready to walk through that door.

My favorite biblical passage focusing on dreams is the story of Joseph in Genesis 38-50.

God blessed Joseph with a mighty vision, a vivid dream of how he would rule over his brothers. Once he revealed his dreams to his brothers, they became jealous and sold him into slavery. It took years – over ten years – for Joseph’s dream to final manifest before his eyes and before those who doubted him. He was held in bondage, rejected, lied on, used for his divine connection to God and ended up working beneath his pay grade – all the while knowing in his heart that God specifically showed him that one day he would reign over those who doubted him.

But Joseph never gave up on God. He may have cried, he may have questioned God at times but Joseph faithfully allowed those hard times to shape his character and allowed God to use him no matter where he was on his journey. Even when his family didn’t believe in him, Joseph believed wholeheartedly in what God showed him in his dreams. And sometimes that’s just the fuel you need to hold on. What a comfort it is to know that God is lighting and directing the path just for you.

Regardless, of those sleepless nights he spent in a jail cell, Joseph knew that eventually, somehow, one day God will bring his dream to full manifestation. He trusted in God. So, he patiently waited. He waited for the Lord’s will to take shape on his behalf.

On your journey, please remember that delay does not mean denial. It just means that God is working hard on your behalf to produce the greatest miracle not just for you, but for others around you to see the power and glory of God.

Rejection, denial, disappointments and setbacks are all apart of the process. But know in your heart, that if God birthed a dream or desire within your heart, He is indeed a man of His word.

Habakkuk 2: 2-4 states, ” Then the Lord answered me and said, “Write down the special dream on stone so that one may read it in a hurry. For it is not yet time for it to come true. The time is coming in a hurry, and it will come true. If you think it is slow in coming, wait for it. For it will happen for sure, and it will not wait. As for the proud one, his soul is not right in him. But the one who is right and good will live by his faith.” (NLV)

And I charge you with doing just that!

It’s always a great practice to write down your goals, plans, dreams, wishes or desires to remind you, where you see yourself going and the hard work that needs to be done in order to accomplish those items on your list.

But please remember to always leave space for God to insert his plans for your life and always know in the back of your mind that if things don’t pan out according to your time, that just means God has something bigger, better and something miraculous in store just for you.

As you can read, I am very passionate about this topic. So, I asked my Twitter followers to weigh in and give their perspective. I want to say thank you to each of you for sharing your insight with me, as well as supporting me on my journey just by interacting with me online. Though, we have never met – I am appreciative of your feedback.

And to those who may just be tuning in, this is still a journey for me. I am still learning about myself, my voice and how I can be more of a lighthouse used to inspire, empower and enlighten all I come in contact with.

Feel free to go back and read some of my previous entries to understand fully, how I am able to stand here and proclaim these words I have written for you today. I’ll give you a hint…. #followthelight

Question: In your perspective, what’s the difference between dreams, wishes and miracles …

@StacyeBranche: Dreams and Wishes are the things we hope for. Miracles are the unexpected things that happen

@JasBoothe1: Miracle is an action. Dreams and wishes are ideas.

@LindsayKatt: A dream is a wish your heart makes. (I learned that from Walt [Disney] … a wish is a desire. A miracle is an unlikely gift.

@fabferrell: They all kinda go together but miracles is more of a spiritual connection with God. You’re believing in Him for it.

@ginaden: A dream is an idea, thought, vision, story, image or emotion that happens while you are asleep. A miracle is an event, healing or something that happens supernaturally — attributed to, traced back to or linked to God. A wish is a desire or want.

@DoquoiGreenSimple answer: A dream is what you want to do. A wish is what you hope to do. A miracles is what you can’t do unless God does it. All require God. A miracle is a supernatural occurrence. God gives dreams and does miracles through us and for us.

@KareemaMusic: Dreams and wishes are born from the presence of hope and miracles from it’s absence

@KarmaWristbands: You are.

@VictoriaTheo: Dreams are inspired by love. Wishes are born in desperation, miracles come from God.

@JamilahLemieux: Attention, passiveness and luck, I suppose.
